Bethany Christian Missions Charitable Trust (CMCT) links NZ supporters with people cared for and nurtured by Christian Missions Charitable Trust in India. These include: widows, leprosy sufferers, those with HIV/Aids, slum dwellers and street kids in the city of Chennai in Southern India.
CMCT is a ministry of Vision, Faith and Action, motivated by the love of Christ and the Good News of Jesus.
Colleen Redit, a Kiwi woman, established this ministry of compassion in the mid 1970s. At age 24 Colleen sailed to Chennai (then known as Madras) from NZ, asking God to direct her. Colleen began by reaching out to a few girls in Chennai’s slums. CMCT now touches the lives of thousands of people daily, helping to meet their physical, spiritual, medical, social and educational needs.
